As of FY09, there are 16 life insurance companies operating in Malaysia, including the composite insurers, with a total 11.9m policies and annual premiums of RM17.4bn. The major players in Malaysia for life insurance based on total assets are Great Eastern Life, AIA, ING and Prudential.
