Consumer - Retail : Marginal Impact From IFRIC 13 - 23/03/2010

IFRIC 13 – Customer Loyalty Programmes, which was effective from Jan 10 onwards, was issued to address the issue on customer loyalty programmes i.e. to regulate these programmes to adhere to the rules of FRS 118 paragraph 13. Prior to IFRIC 13, companies with customer loyalty programmes can choose to adhere to the rules of FRS 118 following either paragraph 13 or paragraph 19 (further details in page 2). Companies under our coverage which would be affected by this accounting standard include AEON and Parkson.
