Background. Berjaya Retail (BRetail) was incorporated in Malaysia on 8 Jun 09, as a private limited company under the name of Berjaya Retail Sdn Bhd. On 29 Sep 09, the company was subsequently converted into a public limited company. After acquiring 7-11 and Singer, BRetail engages in: 1) the operation of a chain of convenience stores via 7-Eleven Group; and 2) marketing and direct selling of consumer durables with installment option schemes, via Singer Group.
